Hisae likes to think of herself as a “classy, learned individual,” which is both, in fairness, truth and wishful thinking; it has become a role she seeks to achieve, a metamorphosis of sorts. Regretful of her high school standing, Hisae hopes to clear up misunderstandings before they appear, which requires her to leave a good -- a better impression. Despite knowing the cliché presumption higher education inevitability cultivates a student into adulthood, she is determined to change herself because she wills it to be. Though some would say this is a strong characteristic to have, Hisae feels it is more of a necessity to become the type of person she admires the most -- the entrance to a “phase” in life that will hopefully be enduring.

Hisae generally radiates an aura of cool politeness that mistakenly feels contemptuous especially in speech, amplified by a naturally crooked smile that almost seems sarcastic. When positioned in a social circumstance, Hisae usually waits for a prompt to enter conversation out of courtesy, but when the opportunity presents itself, Hisae is likely to interject and ramble on excessively as if wordiness is synonymous with intelligence -- although most of the things she says are difficult to relate to because they are completely off mark from the original topic (or so they seem to be). You can often find her taking everything fantastical to be serious. She is open to receiving and expressing (more on the expressing end) different perspectives on human nature and the curiously infinite amounts of possibilities – though if not careful, she might enter a spiral of ceaseless chattering and self-discovery after the conversation has ended.

Unconsciously, Hisae is quick to form opinions about people upon first meeting, establishing a set of expectations and roles for every new face. Concurrently, her first impressions are actually very positive -- she has a bountiful amount of good faith in others -- so much that when the person clashes with her predetermined belief, there is a uncomfortable disconnect. In turn, she expects others to judge her just as much, but mostly because she has had a bad streak of being categorized by complete strangers. She doesn’t like to believe the people act with bad intentions, and would likely pass off rudeness as something trifling, but when she is directly insulted, humiliated or betrayed Hisae becomes flustered, vicious and nonsensical in her actions -- which have left her in messy unwanted misunderstandings in the past. It has been recommended that she channel negative energy through exhausting activities within reach so it is not uncommon to see her aggressively erasing pencil marks from the desk or aggressively cutting paper snowflakes.

Sympathetic by nature, Hisae is often keen to listen to anyone with troubles. Although she is not the best at giving useful advice (which usually is a train of awkward unrelated reasoning), at least she makes herself physically available. Hisae seldom discloses information about personal problems however; she puts them off as boring or unimportant compared to the struggles of countless unnamed others. Although if accused where she is at fault, Hisae has escapist tendencies and is quick to deny the severity of the situation, all the while breaking down in the most unflattering way -- which may include gross crying and nausea. She needs personal space to think though problems such as these, as having people around her often encourages this negativity – something that can easily escalate to aggressiveness. Hisae is always resilient though and recovers in little time.

A new start -- a fresh slate -- is the utmost priority for Hisae in Kamenoko University. She left high school on a sour note and fears a repeat will occur in the worst case scenario. She was taller than most girls around her, and carried a serious face that intimidated or suggested a sharp personality. Commonly she kept contact with a close knit group of friends. In the first term of her junior year, she was wrongly rumored to have started a fight with a delinquent group of girls on school grounds with a scissor in hand and earned the infamous title of “killer sheers” to her name. Consequently, her class would fear Hisae and others would plead to follow her all the while adding layers upon layers of unsound rumors about her (ie. she sent the Chemistry professor to the hospital when in actuality he only moved away). Upon graduation, she obtained a slew of nicknames and an unofficial record of deviancy that would make a mother cry. Not exactly a sweet finish.

Hisae was raised in an environment where she had two zealously possessive and rowdy older brothers looking over her from birth while their mother and father worked full-time as a psychiatrist and an account planner respectively. As children, her brothers would drag her to the park to play sports, or watch baseball at their school field. Relatives would call her the “third son” in the Amori family because she would be around her siblings round-the-clock. Currently, her oldest brother is married and lives in Tokyo and her second oldest brother is approaching graduation from university. As for her parents, Hisae’s father embodies the typical educationally-demanding type; he wanted Hisae to study nursing – as most of her relatives at her age, including her oldest brother are majoring or graduated from medical school. Luckily, Hisae finds refuge with her bohemian mother who recommends Hisae take up a major that interests her most. In a way, they both aimed to insert their personal views on her entrance -- something that caused Hisae much stress. After much deliberation with a few thrown slippers, Hisae was able to take up American Literature as a concentration. Currently there is discussion whether she should dorm to experience full college life, though she is in support of taking a break from her parents' support, as painful as it would be for Hisae.

She is religiously dedicated to her love of western literature -- from Hemingway to Hawthorne, though her understanding of English leaves much to be desired. Simultaneously, she studies the English language fervently in an attempt to read the novels in their original text (albeit slowly); one might hear her exclaim in random English from time to time. Her interests in literature began with her newfound fascination in American film adaptations of classics like The Great Gatsby and Wuthering Heights whilst enrolled in a film elective class. The optional supplementary reading assignments were where she found her interests blossom to a hobby. Although it is not her best subject, reading has become a comfort activity and a way to reflect on knowledge through different viewpoints, and she finds the study to be a point of differentiation.
